I Didn’t Know Who I Was Anymore
There was a time in my life when I could hardly recognize myself.
Everything seemed uncertain.
The plans I had for my life were not happening the way I imagined. Some relationships ended. Some opportunities never came. Some days I woke up with more questions than answers.
I felt lost.
There were moments when I sat alone wondering where my life was heading. Moments when I questioned my decisions, my future, and even my identity. I looked around and saw people moving forward while I felt stuck between dreams and reality.
It is difficult to explain that feeling to someone who has never experienced it.
You know there is something inside you.
You know you have potential.
You know you were created for more.
Yet your current situation seems to be telling a completely different story.
That was where I found myself.
My beginning was humble.
Nothing was handed to me.
There were no shortcuts waiting for me. No special road prepared for my success. Most of what I had was faith, determination, and the willingness to keep moving even when I could not see the full picture.
So I worked.
I worked when I felt motivated.
I worked when I felt tired.
I worked when I felt disappointed.
I worked when my mind was full of doubt.
Sometimes people think hard work only matters when success arrives, but I learned something different.
Work became my anchor.
When my emotions were unstable, work gave me direction.
When my thoughts became heavy, work gave me something meaningful to focus on.
When life felt confusing, work reminded me that progress is often built one small step at a time.
There were days when I carried responsibilities that nobody else could see. Days when I had to show up even though I felt mentally exhausted. Days when I smiled in public while privately trying to figure out what my next move in life would be.
But I kept going.
Looking back now, I realize those difficult seasons were teaching me lessons that comfort never could.
They taught me patience.
They taught me resilience.
They taught me discipline.
Most importantly, they taught me that a person's identity should not be based only on their circumstances.
Just because I felt lost did not mean I was without direction.
Just because I was struggling did not mean I was failing.
Just because I could not see the outcome did not mean the journey was meaningless.
Some of the greatest changes in life happen quietly.
They happen while nobody is watching.
They happen while you are still working.
They happen while you are still learning.
They happen while you are still becoming.
During that season, I also started discovering parts of myself that had been hidden for years. Creativity became stronger. My vision became clearer. Ideas started flowing naturally. I began understanding that some of the gifts inside me were not accidents.
They were part of my purpose.
The same pain that made me question myself also pushed me to discover abilities I never fully appreciated before.
Today, I still remember those difficult days.
I remember the uncertainty.
I remember the pressure.
I remember the feeling of being lost.
But I also remember something else.
I remember refusing to quit.
Because even when I did not know exactly who I was becoming, I knew I had to keep moving forward.
And sometimes that is enough.
Sometimes you do not need all the answers.
Sometimes you only need the courage to take the next step.
That is how Black Castle of Africa was built.
Not from perfection.
Not from comfort.
But from persistence.
From vision.
From humble beginnings.
And from a decision to keep working, even when life became difficult.
